Health Alert: Steroid Injection Safety

Please be reassured that SportsMedicine Atlantic Orthopaedics has never obtained any injectable product from the compounding pharmacy involved in the unfortunate recent meningitis outbreak linked to steroid injections. All of the steroid products we use in both the Portsmouth and York offices are trade name medications ordered and delivered with local distributors. They are not generics. The manufacturers of these injectable steroids are large pharmacies, including: Bristol-Myers, Schering-Plough, and Pfizer-Upjohn. Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you have further questions about an injection you may have received.

Sutherland Lecture: Aching Backs and Radiating Leg Pain

In his June 19th lecture, Dr. Sutherland discussed how to get relief from back and radiating leg pain, as well as effective treatment of disk problems, sciatica and spinal stenosis. The lecture covered a range of options, including protective measures in daily activities, non-operative procedures and surgical advances that can help take the pressure off the nerves and ease the symptoms of arthritis in the back.

Our physicians enjoy full medical staff privileges at both Portsmouth Regional Hospital and York Hospital. Pro-Care, our on-site Physical Therapy practice, is located in our Portsmouth office.

Sports Medicine Atlantic Orthopaedics appointment hours: 8am - 4:15pm, Monday through Friday. Closed on major holidays.
Pro-Care appointment hours: 6:30am - 7pm, Monday through Thursday; 6:30am - 5pm on Fridays
